Overview

Sudden collapse is a symptom of serious underlying disease including heart failure, toxin exposure, internal bleeding, or neurological events.


Symptoms

  • Sudden inability to stand
  • Weak pulse
  • Unconsciousness
  • Pale gums
  • Labored breathing

Causes

  • Heart disease (HCM)
  • Internal bleeding
  • Severe hypoglycemia
  • Toxin exposure
  • Stroke (rare)

Treatment

  • Emergency stabilization
  • Oxygen therapy
  • IV fluids
  • Diagnostics (bloodwork, imaging)
