Overview
Seizures are uncontrolled electrical disturbances in the brain caused by epilepsy, toxins, tumors, or metabolic disease.
Symptoms
- Collapse
- Convulsions
- Paddling limbs
- Drooling
- Confusion after episode
Treatment
- Emergency anti-seizure meds
- Long-term anticonvulsants
- Diagnostic imaging (MRI if needed)
When to See a Vet
👉 First seizure or >5 minute seizure = emergency.
Prevention
- Medication adherence
- Avoid toxins
- Regular monitoring
