Play vs Aggression Misinterpretation
Overview
Many owners misinterpret normal rough play as aggression or vice versa. Proper classification is essential for correct intervention.
Symptoms
- Play bowing, self-handicapping, and role reversal (play behavior)
- Stiff posture, silence, and persistent targeting (aggression indicators)
- Alternating chase behaviors without injury intent
Causes
- Lack of owner behavioral literacy
- High-energy breeds with rough play styles
